Chinese Military Delegation in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Members of a high-ranking military delegation from China met with Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari in Tehran on Sunday.

Held as part of routine military interactions between Iran and China, the meeting was aimed at broadening the bilateral military relations.

Tehran and Beijing have close diplomatic, economic, trade and energy ties, and in recent years have developed their military relations as well.

Back in October, Head of Iranian Armed Forces’ Joint Affairs Major General Mohammad Baqeri voiced Iran and China’s common stances towards the US unilateralism, saying they seek to form “an Asian structure” and develop the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

“Iran and China share common stances and it is planned that we promote our defense ties just like our economic ties,” the Iranian general said after a meeting with the deputy chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army of China.
