Iranian MPs to Visit Fordo N. Facility, Arak Heavy Water Reactor

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A group of Iranian legislators are scheduled to visit two of the country’s nuclear facilities in Fordo and Arak next week, an Iranian lawmaker said on Sunday.

Ibrahim Aghamohammadi, a member of the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, told Tasnim that a number of the commission members are set to pay a visit to the Fordo nuclear facility, as well as the country’s Arak heavy-water reactor.

He said the exact date of the visit has not been set yet, but added that it would occur sometime next week.

Aghamohammadi also said that it will take place in line with efforts to supervise proper implementation of a recent nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers also known as the Joint comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The Iranian lawmaker said a report on the visit will be later submitted to the presiding board of the commission, adding that part of the document maybe later read out during an open session of the parliament.

Back on November 13, the rapporteur of the commission announced that a committee would be established in the parliament soon to supervise the implementation of the JCPOA.

Nozar Shafiee said according to the law, the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission has a duty to monitor the implementation of the deal and has to submit a report on the issue every six months.

Therefore, he added, the commission has taken some measures to set up a committee named "The Monitoring Committee” to keep an eye on the procedures of the implementation of the JCPOA.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 finalized the JCPOA.
