Syrian Forces Inflict Heavy Losses on Terrorists in Aleppo

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Syrian army troops along with resistance forces continued to make gains in their fight against the Takfiri terrorists operating in the Arab country and managed to destroy dozens of their strongholds in the northern province of Aleppo.

The Syrian troops on Thursday destroyed a range of Daesh and al-Nusra militant strongholds in the country's northern province of Aleppo, Sputnik reported on Friday.

The militants' positions were eliminated in several neighborhoods of the city of Aleppo, including al-Lairamoun, al-Firdous and Bani Zaid.

Additionally, the Syrian troops managed to destroy militant gathering centers in the districts of al-Maasaraniyeh, al-Sheikh Lutfi and Bustan al-Basha in Aleppo.

Scores of the terrorists lost their lives during the confrontation.

In a separate development on the same day, the Syrian forces also eliminated Daesh fortifications in the villages of Najjara and al-Jaberiyeh in Aleppo's eastern areas.

Also, dozens of al-Nusra Front terrorists were killed after the army hit their positions in Khan al-Asal on the western outskirts of Aleppo.

The destruction of Daesh strongholds in Aleppo came shortly after the Syrian army forces launched major offensives in the country's key provinces of Hama, Homs, Damascus, Idlib and Dara'a.

Adding to the Syrian Army's anti-Daesh effort is Russia's air campaign, which was launched on September 30, when more than fifty Russian warplanes, including Su-24M, Su-25 and Su-34 jets, commenced precision airstrikes on Daesh  targets in the Arab country at the behest of President Bashar Assad.

Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with the government fighting against numerous extremist groups such as the Daesh (ISIL).
