Danish FM to Visit Iran Monday

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Denmark’s Foreign Minister Kristian Jensen will pay an official visit to Iran on Monday with the aim of expanding economic relations between Tehran and Copenhagen.

Heading a trade delegation from the Scandinavian nation, Mr. Jensen is going to hold a meeting with Iran’s Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian on Monday evening.

The meeting will be part of Denmark’s efforts to learn about investment opportunities in Iran’s water and electricity industries.

Last week, a deputy energy minister told Tasnim that a host of foreign firms have shown enthusiasm for investment in Iran’s electricity and water industries, noting that regular meetings are underway to single out the most perfect from among them.

Sattar Mahmoudi said the ministry tries to pick the companies with the best practical experience and good technical and financial capabilities.

While a July nuclear deal between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) is only steps away from being implemented, foreign companies are impatient to take the ample economic opportunities in Iran.

The nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), will terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
