Iranian Navy Forces Practice Off-Dock Torpedo Loading in Drills
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian forces involved in a massive naval drill southeast of the country carried out an operation on Saturday to load torpedoes into Ghadir-class submarines off the harbor.
The submarines were loaded with torpedoes deep in the water in the middle of combat operations, General Mousavi, spokesman for the ongoing war games said on Saturday.
As regards other operations carried out on Saturday, the general said Navy divers exited from submarines under water, and detonated the hypothetical enemy’s equipment.
Code-named “Velayat 94”, the war games began on January 27. The drills cover an area of around 3 million square kilometers, stretching from east of the strategic Strait of Hormuz to the northern parts of the Indian Ocean, known as the 10-degrees latitude.
Naval drills are not rare in Iran’s southern waters, in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman and around the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The Navy usually unveils a series of latest military equipment in its drills.
