Iran Files Complaint to FIFA over Referee Mazic

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran submitted a complaint to FIFA over performance of referee Milorad Mazic during the match against Argentina.

Iran’s Ashkan Dejagah was brought down by Pablo Zabaleta in the area in the second half but Serbian referee Milorad Mazic decided not to call the foul.

“Argentina is a very good team but unfortunately the result was not fair and every 50-50 decision went against us. This is morally and professionally wrong,” Mehdi Mohammad Nabi, the general secretary of Iran Football Federation (IFF), said.

“If FIFA wants to favor Argentina football team, why the other teams from the continents should participate in the competition?” he added.

“We’ve seen the replays many times. The referee was close enough to see the penalty and had a clear view but denied that. I believe that the referee closed his eyes to reality. We have submitted a complaint to FIFA referees chief Massimo Busacca and wanted take this into consideration,” Nabi said.
