Iran, Afghanistan to Expand Scientific Cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s minister of science called for the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Iran and Afghanistan on the expansion of scientific and technological cooperation.

In a meeting with Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Afghanistan Mohammad Mohaqiq, Iranian Science Minister Mohammad Farhadi said that a joint committee is formed to implement the MoU between the two countries.

Referring to the religious, cultural, and historical commonalities between Iran and Afghanistan, he stressed that all articles of this MoU must be operationalized faster and more comprehensively.

Farhadi went on to say that Iran can provide the professors of Afghan universities with good opportunities in the form of sabbaticals.

Pointing to the admission of Afghan elites in Iranian universities, Iran’s minister of science emphasized the annual admission of 500 Afghan students.

Mohammad Mohaqiq, for his part, asked Iran’s Educational Measurement Organization to organize nationwide university entrance examinations in Afghanistan.

The Afghan official also requested Farhadi to increase the admission of Afghan students in such fields as Mining and Aerospace engineering in Iranian universities.
