Yemeni Forces Recapture Southern City from Al-Qaeda Militants
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Yemeni Army and popular committees managed to retake Nisab District in southern Yemen from Al-Qaeda affiliated militants and forces loyal to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.
Yemen’s army took control of Nisab in the Shabwah Governorate and forced the militants to withdraw from the district.
It came as the Yemeni army continues advancing on border areas in Saudi Arabia in retaliation for Riyadh's military aggressions against the Arabian Peninsula country.
In another development, the forces of Yemen’s army and popular committees destroyed an armored vehicle in a military base in Saudi Arabia's southwestern city of Najran, near the border with Yemen.
On March 26, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies began to launch deadly air strikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
According to Yemen's Freedom House Foundation, the Saudi airstrikes have claimed the lives of nearly 4,000 Yemenis so far while more than 7,000 others have been wounded, most of them civilians.
Meantime, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) revealed that 2,453 civilians have been injured, among whom 130 were women and 234 children.
