Iran Eyes Tourism Ties with Malta
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian president called for efforts to enhance the relations between Iran and Malta in various areas including tourism.
Malta is located in a good geographical position and has many tourist attractions, President Hassan Rouhani said in a meeting with the European country’s new accredited ambassador to Tehran on Monday.
“Iran and Malta can have broader relations in diverse economic, cultural and political fields,” the president added.
He also stressed the need for efforts to let the Iranian investors know about the opportunities and potential available in Malta, saying it will stimulate closer ties between Tehran and Valletta.
The Maltese envoy, Joseph Mangion, for his part, voiced the European country’s determination to expand relations with Iran in all fields.
He also submitted his credentials to President Rouhani.
Malta comprises an archipelago of five islands in the Central Mediterranean Sea, south of the Italian island of Sicily.
It joined the European Union in May 2004. With an area of only 316 square kilometers, Malta is one of the world's smallest and most densely populated countries.
