Persepolis Defeats Esteghlal Khuzestan in Iran Professional League
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis football team is getting closer to top of the Iran professional league (IPL) table after the Iranian popular outfit defeated Esteghlal Khuzestan 2-0.
In the match held in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on Thursday, Omid Alishah found the back of the net with a header in the 16th minute.
Mehdi Taremi extended the lead four minutes into the second half after he escaped the offside trap.
Persepolis now is fifth, four points behind IPL leader Esteghlal.
Branko Ivankovic’s men extended unbeaten run to 11 matches as well.
Isfahan derby between Sepahan and Zob Ahan finished in a 1-1 draw.
Struggling Foolad defeated Padideh 1-0 and Saipa edged past Rah Ahan.
