US Root Cause of Regional Woes: Iranian Cleric
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A top Iranian cleric blamed the US administration for being at the bottom of insecurity and turmoil in the region.
The arrogant powers, the US in particular, are the root cause of wars and insecurity, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Movahedi Kermani said in an address to large gathering of Friday prayer-goers in Tehran.
“The arrogance, with the US on top, turns the political conflicts into fratricide,” the cleric reiterated.
He further lashed out at the US government for its financial supports for the terrorist groups and deploying militants to Syria and Iraq to commit war crimes.
The world needs to realize the threat of the US, Ayatollah Movahedi Kermani added, stressing the need for an international uprising against Washington's policies.
His comments came after Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei took a swipe at the world’s arrogant powers, spearheaded by the US, for provoking regional conflicts to make Israeli occupation of Palestine fade into oblivion.
The root causes of wars, insecurity and terrorism in the region and in the Islamic world are the arrogant powers, with the US at the top, Ayatollah Khamenei said on Wednesday.
The Leader also decried insincere claims about fighting terrorism, saying that world powers are “supporting and fostering terrorism in practice.”
