Iranian President Vows to Improve Economy, Uproot Unemployment

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani vowed to take fundamental steps to combat unemployment and improve the country’s economy based the policies of the Resistance Economy in his second term in office.

“Uprooting poverty, fighting corruption, and curbing inflation are (among) the rights of the Iranian nation,” President Rouhani said on Thursday during a ceremony at which he was endorsed as president to take the office for a second term.

He added that creating more job opportunities across the country will be top on the agenda in the 12th administration.

Taking into account the policies of the Resistance Economy stressed by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the government will proceed ahead with its economic plans to create an “economic revolution”, Rouhani noted. 

Rouhani further pledged to take necessary measures to elevate Iran's position and have effective interactions with the world based the country’s Constitution.

The Leader officially authorized President Hassan Rouhani to take the office for the second time in a ceremony in the capital, Tehran, attended by senior Iranian and foreign officials.

During the event, Rouhani received his validation edict from the Leader and was officially validated into the office for the second time.

In Iran’s presidential election on May 19, Rouhani garnered 23,549,616 votes from a total of 41,220,131 ballots. The runner-up, Ebrahim Raisi, secured 38.5% of the votes.
