TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said Tanzanian Foreign Minister Augustine Mahiga will start his official visit to the Islamic Republic on Wednesday.

Heading a high-ranking delegation, the Tanzanian foreign minister will arrive in Tehran on Wednesday to hold talks with Iranian officials on issues of mutual interest, Qassemi said on Tuesday.

He added that in addition to a meeting with President Hassan Rouhani, Mahiga is slated to meet Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and several other ministers.

The spokesman also said ways to promote bilateral relations between Tehran and Dodoma will be discussed during the meetings.

Expansion of relations with African nations in all political, economic and cultural fields is top on the agenda of Iran's foreign policy.

President Rouhani, who won a second term back in May, has repeatedly stressed his government's interest in boosting relations with the African states.
