Ayatollah Khamenei Visits Iran's Quake-Hit Areas

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Monday morning paid a visit to Iran’s western province of Kermanshah, where relief efforts are still underway after a massive earthquake that killed more than 430 people last week.

Ayatollah Khamenei, Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian military forces, has made the personal visit to the quake-ravaged province to meet the victims and those left homeless by the quake.

Figures show that 436 people have died and more than 9,000 others were wounded in the 7.3 magnitude tremor, whose epicenter was near Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah.

According to President Hassan Rouhani, the earthquake has destroyed 11,000 rural houses and 4,500 urban dwellings in Kermanshah province.
