Iranian Women Team Earns First Ever Win at Asian Squash Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s women’s squash team made history gaining its first-ever win in the Asian championship.

The Iranian team defeated Singapore 2-1 on Thursday in the competition underway in Cheongju, South Korea.

Iran has been drawn in Pool B along with Chinese Taipei, Singapore, Malaysia, China and Japan.

Pool A consists of Hong Kong, Pakistan, South Korea, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

The Asian Team Championship is the international squash competition played between teams representing different nations organized by the Asian Squash Federation.

Countries enter teams of three or four players to represent them in the championship. In each round of the competition, teams face each other in a best-of-three singles matches contest. Each competition is held once every two years.
