Iranian Nuclear Delegation to Leave for China Today

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi said a delegation of experts from the AEOI is slated to travel to China later on Tuesday in a bid to boost cooperation in the area of peaceful nuclear energy.

Kamalvandi said on Tuesday that the AEOI delegation will leave Tehran for Beijing to participate in a seminar on international nuclear cooperation between Iran and China due to be held in the Chinese capital on Wednesday.

The seminar is going to be hosted by the Chinese government, he said, adding that representatives from the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, US, Britain, France, and Germany) would also attend the event.

The participants are planned to discuss various issues, including the prospect for international cooperation in the nuclear industry within the framework of the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and the six world powers, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

In a ceremony on Monday, Iran marked the National Nuclear Technology Day and unveiled 83 homegrown achievements in the nuclear industry.

In recent years, Iranian scientists have made remarkable progress in the field of peaceful nuclear technology despite sanctions imposed by the West.

This year’s ceremony comes after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in February reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to the JCPOA for the tenth time.
