Iranian Speaker to Focus on Trade Ties in Inter-Parliamentary Event

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s parliament speaker said his participation at an annual meeting of parliament speakers of the Eurasian countries in Turkey is mainly aimed at discussing plans for development of the regional countries and expansion of trade interaction.

Speaking to reporters at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport before leaving for Turkey’s Antalya, Larijani said he would focus on plans for development of the Eurasian countries and their commercial interaction during his trip.

Describing Eurasia as a significant region, he said the parliaments of Eurasian countries could facilitate interaction among the governments.

Larijani also hailed the idea of holding the parliamentary conference of Eurasian countries, saying it could turn into one of the major institutions in Eurasia.

The consensus between Iran and Russia on promoting cooperation comes within the framework of Eurasian interaction, he added.

During his two-day stay in Antalya, the Iranian parliament speaker will hold meetings with Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Binali Yildirim and a number of other foreign counterparts.

The conference is attended by 20 parliament speakers and parliamentary delegations from 17 Asian and European nations.

The first and second editions of the conference were held in Russia and South Korea, respectively.
