Death Toll Climbs to 25 in California with Dozens Still Missing (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The death toll from devastating Camp Fire in Northern California has risen to 25 after the charred remains of more than a dozen people were discovered and there are fears that it will continue to rise.

The latest victims were found in and around Paradise, a northern mountain town which has been almost completely destroyed by an inferno, and Malibu, a southern city near Los Angeles.

There are fears that the death toll will continue to rise as officials go through areas that were wiped out by the raging fires.

Authorities are still investigating about 110 missing persons reports which were filed as people fled their homes.

Many bodies have been found in or near burned-out cars.

Officials said on Saturday that 14 additional bodies were discovered in Paradise, while two were found in Malibu, raising the state-wide death toll to 25.

Of those, 23 were killed in and around Paradise.

The blaze that has ravaged Paradise, 90 miles north of Sacramento, is known as the Camp Fire, and it is one of the worst wildfires in state history.

It has burned down more than 6,700 homes and businesses - more structures than any other California wildfire on record.

The death toll, which could still rise, also makes it one of the deadliest.
