Turkmenistan Eyes Developing Trade, Economic Ties with Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Turkmenistan is ready to expand trade and economic relations with Iran in all fields, especially in the trade sector, the chairman of the Board of Directors of Iran International Exhibition Organizers Association (IEOA) said.

Speaking in an interview with IRNA on Tuesday, Hassan Martaji stated that an exhibition entitled “Iran Project” has taken effective measures in the past 15 years for enhancing Iran’s share in Turkmenistan’s lucrative market helping Iran-Turkmenistan trade exchanges to increase from $175 million in 2008 to $1.7 billion in 2015.

He pointed to the cooperation between Iran’s Embassy in Ashgabat and the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) and noted that it has been very helpful in boosting trade between the two countries.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Martaji referred to organizing the 6th edition of the “Iran Project” Exhibition in Ashgabat and said the government of Turkmenistan welcomes the launch of this exhibition to spur bilateral trade and economic activities.

The “Iran Project” Exhibition in Turkmenistan has led to giant investment in various fields and has paved the way for signing several important contracts as well, he stated.

The “Iran Project” Exhibition will be held in the Turkmen capital of Ashgabat from October 24 to 27.
