Iranian Delegation to Observe Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Joint Caspian Drill

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian military delegation has traveled to the Republic of Azerbaijan to participate as an observer in a joint exercise between the Azeri and Kazakh naval forces in the Caspian Sea.

The delegation of Iran has traveled to Baku to take part as an observer in the “Khazri-2023” Joint Tactical Exercises held in the Republic of Azerbaijan’s waters, the Azeri Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

The drill includes warships and servicemen from the Republic of Azerbaijani and Kazakh Naval Forces.

The Iranian delegation, led by the Navy’s commander for operations, held a meeting with the Navy commander of the Republic of Azerbaijan to discuss various issues relating to the ‘Khazri-2023’ drill.

The two sides also stressed the need to hold joint naval exercises between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Iran in the Caspian Sea in future. A preliminary agreement was reached in this regard.

The two delegations also weighed plans for the development of military cooperation between the two Muslim neighbors.
