Brazil U-17 Aims to Set Record against Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Brazil will face Iran in the first matchday meeting of Group C of the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) on Saturday and aims to set a new record.

Brazil U-17, which is headed by Phelipe Leal, has appeared on this occasion with the determination to defend the title won in 2019.

Winning the world crown will mark Brazil's fourth title in the U-17 World Cup. Now Brazil is only one trophy adrift of Nigeria, which has collected five titles and is the team with the most wins in the U-17 World Cup.

Not only determined to defend the title, Brazil is also the team with the highest number of goals in the history of the U-17 World Cup, namely 199 goals.

Iran's young men were able to reach the semifinals at the U-17 AFC Cup last June, although their move had to be stopped at the hands of Japan after losing 0-3.

In their last five matches, the U-17 Iran team was able to notch up three wins, one draw and one loss. Facing Brazil U-17, Iran can also take advantage of the sharpness of their striker, Kasra Taheri, who became the mainstay of the team when they reached the semifinals of the U-17 AFC Cup.
