Iran Should Use UN Capacity to Serve Interests: FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian stressed the need to capitalize on the potential of the United Nations and the international diplomacy capacities to fulfill Iran’s goals and serve its national interests.

In a meeting with Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian, held in Tehran on Saturday, Iran’s Ambassador to the UN Saeed Iravani gave a report on the latest events and developments in his diplomatic mission at different international levels.

The envoy also briefed the foreign minister on the activities and efforts of Iran’s UN mission in regard to the international issues related to the UN and its bodies.

Highlighting the importance of Iran’s active role and presence in the international arena, Amirabdollahian called for the employment of the capacity of the UN in order to advance the goals of Iran and realize its national interests based on the guidelines and criteria provided by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

He also emphasized the need to use the capacity of international and public diplomacy to persuasively outline the logic of Iran’s policies on various issues related to politics and foreign relations, the ministry’s website reported.

The Iranian foreign minister finally made the necessary recommendations in this regard.
