Eight Children among 15 Killed in Israeli Air Strikes in Rafah, Nuseirat
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Fifteen people, including eight children, were killed in overnight Israeli air strikes on Rafah and Nuseirat camp, according to a report from local sources.
Seven were killed in Rafah, and eight in Nuseirat, with the majority of the casualties being children.
The latest casualties add to the grim toll of more than 14,500 children killed by Israel during its genocidal war with Gaza, accounting for approximately 42 percent of all fatalities.
The night was particularly devastating in the Gaza Strip's southern region, as fighter jets targeted a house in Rafah's Saudi neighborhood, resulting in at least six reported deaths, including four children. In Nuseirat camp, an air strike on a house claimed eight lives and left 30 others wounded, damaging seven nearby houses according to witnesses.
Recent air strikes also targeted a residential building in Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, prompting urgent responses from ambulance services.
Palestinians across the enclave are concerned that failure in negotiations could escalate the Israeli war, particularly in Rafah, where displacement options are limited, and a potential Israeli ground invasion is feared to exacerbate the humanitarian crisis.
Israeli gunboats reportedly fired heavy machine guns at a fisherman's port in Gaza City and the Shati camp in northern Gaza. This follows a deadly incident where Israeli forces shot at fishermen off Gaza's Rafah coast, killing one and injuring another.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has highlighted significant damage to schools housing displaced Palestinians, with 65 percent reported directly hit or damaged in attacks. Additionally, concerns are rising over a "sanitation crisis" amid soaring temperatures, with reports of an infant girl's death in Rafah due to extreme heat.
According to Health Ministry data, between Wednesday and Friday afternoon, 94 people were killed and 139 injured in Israeli attacks, with the deadliest incidents including the bombing of a house in Shati (Beach) refugee camp, located west of Gaza City, resulting in the death of a Palestinian poet and writer along with her two children.
