Iran’s Tasnim News Agency Opens Office in Lebanon

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Tasnim News Agency of Iran made another major stride in boosting its media activities in the region by inaugurating an office in Lebanon’s capital of Beirut on Wednesday, two days after inauguration of the agency's office in Damascus.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Tasnim News Agency Managing Director Majid Qolizadeh and an accompanying delegation from Tehran.

During the ceremony, Qolizadeh called on the head of Tasnim’s office in Beirut to put efforts into making the Iranian news agency gain the upper hand in providing “authentic and timely” information.

He placed greater emphasis on Beirut office given the fact that “Lebanon is the most important highway of media communication and the arena of media outlets with different poilitical, cultural and social attitudes in the region.”

Qolizadeh said Lebanon’s strategic position in the Islamic anti-Israeli resistance front further necessitates “rapport and solidarity” among the pro-resistance media in a bid to break the monopoly of imperialistic media.

Tasnim has recently intensified its media activities in the region, taking initiative for stronger cultural and media interactions with the regional countries.

Earlier on Monday, the Tasnim News Agency inaugurated its office in Damascus.

Meanwhile, a special meeting, held on the sidelines of the ceremony to open the Damascus office, saw head of the Syrian Arab Television and Radio Broadcasting Commission (SATRBC), representatives from Syrian journalists union, Al-Baath and Tishreen dailies, Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) and Lebanese Al Manar TV network.
