Iran, Russia Confer on Nuclear Cooperation
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Chief of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi and the visiting Russian president's adviser on education and science explored avenues for promotion of Tehran-Moscow cooperation in the area of peaceful nuclear technology.
In a meeting in Tehran on Sunday, Salehi and Andrei Fursenko discussed a whole range of issues, including ways to boost scientific ties between the Islamic Republic and Russia.
Salehi referred to the growing cooperation between the two countries and said Iran and Russia can definitely be reliable partners for each other.
"Relations between the two countries have witnessed a noticeable growth, particularly over the past year," the Iranian official said, hoping for the trend to continue.
Fursenko, for his part, expressed the hope that the grounds will be set for closer bilateral cooperation.
He referred to fields like nuclear medicine, laser and its applications, cyclotrons and reactors as areas of cooperation between the two countries.
Heading a senior delegation, Fursenko arrived in Tehran on Sunday at the invitation of Iran's Vice-President for Science and Technology Affairs Sourena Sattari.
During his two-day visit, the Russian official plans to visit a number of scientific and industrial centers and meet with a number of high-ranking Iranian officials.
