Amano’s Tehran Visit “Very Successful”: AEOI Chief
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Chief Ali Akbar Salehi hailed a recent trip made by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief to Iran, saying Yukiya Amano was quite content when he left Tehran.
“Amano’s visit to Iran was very successful,” Salehi told reporters on Monday, almost one day after the United Nations nuclear chief left Iran.
Amano had arrived in the country on Sunday and held a series of meetings with high-ranking Iranian officials.
During his trip, Amano also attended an Iranian parliamentary session held to review the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action), the text of a recent nuclear deal finalized by Tehran and world powers on July 14.
“Amano’s meeting with JCPOA commission (members) was a good one and both sides were satisfied,” Salehi noted, referring to Amano’s Sunday meeting with Iranian lawmakers in Tehran.
Amano left Tehran while he was satisfied (with his trip), the Iranian nuclear chief noted, expressing the hope that past and previous issues about Iran’s nuclear energy program would be concluded by the end of the year.
Amano also paid a visit to Iran’s Parchin military site on Sunday, where he toured some of the workshop locations at the compound that have been the subject of unfounded allegations, according to the AEOI spokesman.
Referring to Amano’s Parchin visit, Salehi also noted that everything has been carried out as per the Road-map signed between Iran and the IAEA. “The two sides have acted based on their commitments,” he added.
Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) finalized the JCPOA in the Austrian capital of Vienna on July 14.
On the same day, Iran and the IAEA signed the Road-map for the clarification of past and present issues.
As part of the Road-map, the IAEA is required to finish its investigations about Iran’s nuclear activities and submit a report to the agency’s board by December 15.
