Amano’s Parchin Visit Shows Iran’s Honesty: Senior MP

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Iranian lawmaker on Monday referred to a recent visit by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief to Iran’s Parchin military site as an indication of Tehran’s honesty in its nuclear energy program.

Yukiya Amano’s Sunday visit to Parchin military site was a good one in which the UN nuclear chief saw for himself what Iran declares is of utmost honesty, Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said in an interview with al-Alam TV.

“We never ever have any secrecy in any nuclear issue,” he stressed, adding that Iran may be the only country in the world whose nuclear sites are open and have frequently been visited by other countries’ representatives and even reporters.

Therefore, Boroujerdi added, such a country does not deserve this much skepticism imposed by the United States, which created an ambiguous image in the minds of the IAEA and other countries through the lies it spread.

“Such visits help correct the misconception,” the Iranian lawmaker added, predicting that the relations between Tehran and world powers as well as the IAEA would improve henceforth.

A positive trend of relations with Iran should be expected from now on, because both the IAEA and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France, and Germany) closely witnessed Iran’s honesty, he noted.

Amano visited Iran on Sunday and held a series of meetings with high-ranking Iranian officials.

He also paid a visit to the Parchin military site, where he toured some of the workshop locations at the compound that have been the subject of unfounded allegations.

The West has claimed that secret nuclear activity is underway at the site, an allegation Tehran has categorically denied.
