Syrian Army Liberates Eight Villages in Aleppo in Two Days

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Syrian army has liberated eight villages in the southeast part of the northern Syrian Aleppo Governorate from terrorist groups in the past two days, a military source told Sputnik on Sunday.

"Today the army has liberated two villages — Shalashil and Tel Dadeen in the southeast part of Aleppo Governorate", the source said.

He added that the army liberated six villages on Saturday.

Syria has been mired in a civil war since 2011, with government forces fighting an assortment of militant groups, including the ISIL terrorists. However, the militant groups have frequently turned on each other and engaged in infighting in a power struggle and over resources.

Following the start of the Russian air campaign last month, Syria's Armed Forces have launched large-scale operations to retake occupied areas from terrorists.
