Velayati Highlights ‘Influential’ Roles of Iran, India in Promoting Peace, Stability

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran's Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati underlined that Iran and India are playing a major role in promoting peace and stability in the region and the world.

“Iran and India have numerous and invaluable capacities to expand relations in various fields, which can be influential in creating peace and stability in the region and the world…,” Velayati said in a meeting with India’s Minister of State for External Affairs Mubashir Javed Akbar on Sunday.

“On regional issues, particularly the fight against extremism and terrorist groups in the region, the two sides can develop and implement proper plans given their experiences, and the outcome of such cooperation will definitely be positive for stability in this region,” he noted.

Velayati, who is also an international adviser to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, went on to say that Tehran and New Delhi can also boost cooperation in other areas, including economy, culture, and transportation.

The Indian minister, for his part, emphasized that terrorist and extremist groups are dangerous not only to the region but also to the entire world, urging a “serious” campaign against them.

Akbar further voiced his country’s willingness to promote relations with Iran given the two sides’ deep-rooted ties.
