Iranian Vice President to Visit Syria Soon

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri is going to visit Syria in the coming days.

Jahangiri will travel to the Arab country to promote cooperation between Tehran and Damascus.

During his two-day visit, the Iranian vice president is going to hold talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Prime Minister Imad Khamis.

In September 2017, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly that Iran would assist the Syrian nation in reconstructing their country after the war, in the same way that it contributed to the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Arab state amid the crisis.

In September 2018, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced at a trilateral summit with his Russian and Turkish counterparts in Tehran that Iran is ready to assist for the return of Syrian refugees and reconstruction of the Arab country.
