Iran’s Kheirollahzadeh Advances to IBSA Judo Grand Prix Final

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Mohammadreza Kheirollahzadeh from Iran booked a place at the final match of the Baku 2019 IBSA Judo Grand Prix.

Kheirollahzadeh defeated rivals from Georgia and England on his way to the final match and will face an Uzbekistani judoka in the final of the men’s +100kg.

The Baku 2019 IBSA Judo Grand Prix is being held at the Heydar Aliyev Sports Complex. It is part of a series of four Grand Prix taking place in 2019-2020.

As well as offering qualification for Tokyo 2020, the competition is also an important part of the build-up to regional Championships taking place this year.

It is the first to be held as part of a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Judo Federation (IJF) to help develop the sport.

More than 240 judokas from 36 countries are in Baku for the season-opening competition.
