TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Dozens of Indians staged anti-US protests near US embassy in Delhi, against killing of Iranian commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani in Iraq.

The Muslim demonstrators raised the red flag of martyrdom while chanting “Death to America” and “long live Soleimani,” as they burned effigies of the US President Donald Trump over the assassination of the Iranian commander.

The protests were led by prominent Indian clerics Maulana Kalbe Jawad Naqvi and Mehmood Pracha.

Referring to trump's threat to bomb 52 Iranian sites, Naqvi said, "(we) Wont let a single American enter India if one stone is moved."

One of the protesters explained that the red flag signifies the demands for revenge against the US act of terrorism.

Earlier, the American Embassy issued a demonstration alert for its citizens to stay away from the embassy area for their own safety.

"There is a planned anti-American protest scheduled today in the vicinity of Teen Murti Road and possibly in the front of the US Embassy. The police are aware of the protest and will provide enhanced security. The US Embassy recommends that US citizens avoid these two areas today, January 7," the US Embassy said.

The assassination of the Iranian general has sparked hatred and protests against the US administration across the globe, particularly in the heart of Muslims who suffered the most in the fight against global terrorism.
