Iran U-23 Players Wear Black Armband against Uzbekistan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian U-23 football team players decided to wear black armband in the match against Uzbekistan on Thursday.

They wore black armbands to pay tribute to victims of the recent incidents in Iran.

In a stampede during the funeral procession of Lt. General Qassem Soleimani in Kerman on Tuesday, 59 people were killed and many more injured.

On Wednesday morning, a Boeing 737 plane operated by Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) crashed shortly after takeoff from the Imam Khomeini International Airport in southwest Tehran, killing all 179 people on board, including 147 Iranians.

The Iranian government declared one day of national mourning for those who died in the incidents.

Iran plays Uzbekistan in Group C of the AFC U-23 Championship Thailand 2020.
