Esteghlal Highly Motivated to Meet Kuwaits SC: Farhad Majidi
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Esteghlal head coach Farhad Majidi says his players are highly motivated to face Kuwait SC.
The Iranian Blues are scheduled to meet Kuwait SC at the Alawir Stadium on Saturday in the AFC Champions League Preliminary Stage 2.
The Esteghlal-Kuwait SC match was originally scheduled for Tuesday in Tehran but according to the new fixture, the Iranian team should meet the Kuwaiti side in Dubai.
“First of all, I have to say it’s not fair to play Kuwait SC in Dubai because this is our home match. It’s not acceptable for me playing in a neutral venue. As far as I know, the Asian Football Confederation is always looking for peace and friendship, but it’s not acceptable to play in Dubai,” Majidi said in the pre-match news conference.
“We respect AFC’s decision but our fans cannot be ignored, that’s why we are here. More than 50,000 fans will come to the stadium when Esteghlal plays at the Azadi,” he added.
“We’ve trained in the past week and are ready for this match. Our players are highly motivated and I hope we win the match,” Majidi concluded.
