Iran Reports 6,470 New COVID-19 Cases

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran reported 6,470 new infections on Friday, among which 1,275 were hospitalized, as 184 cities are still in red zone for COVID-19, according to Iran's Health Ministry.

New data by Iran's Health Ministry indicated that there were 154 new COVID-associated deaths in the country since yesterday.

As of Friday, there have been 7,080,217 COVID-related hospitalizations, among which 6,709,131 patients have recovered or been discharged from hospitals.

According to the report by the country’s Health Ministry, some 4,056 COVID-19 patients are in critical conditions and in intensive care units.

Meanwhile, some 63,042,542 Iranians have received the first dose and 55,650,128 people have so far received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Moreover, 23,647,756 people have also received the third shot as the booster jab.

So far, 47,571,202 COVID-19 diagnostic tests have been conducted in the country.

To date, there have been 137,593 COVID-associated deaths in Iran since the pandemic began.

The global Covid death toll has passed 5.9 million, with a figure of 5,981,137 according to researchers at Johns Hopkins University. Meanwhile, infections have continued past 442 million to a world wide figure of 442,084,034.
