Israeli Forces Kill Palestinian Teenager in Northern West Bank

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Israeli forces have shot dead a Palestinian teenager and injured two others in the northern part of the West Bank, according to Palestinian officials.

The victim was identified by the Palestinian health ministry as Mohammad Nedal Saleem, 15, who was shot in the back by Israeli troops in the town of Azzun on Thursday.

Two other teenagers were wounded, one critically. Witnesses said the Israeli troops fired at the three Palestinians while they were at the entrance to the town.

Saleem's death brings the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces and settlers since the beginning of the year to 68, including four people shot by settlers, 13 children, four elderly people, and one prisoner.

At least 21 of the fatalities occurred during two separate mass raids carried out by Israeli troops in the northern cities of Nablus and Jenin earlier this year.

The Israeli regime has escalated its aggression against Palestinians since late December 2022 when Benjamin Netanyahu returned as prime minister with a cabinet of hard-right and ultra-Orthodox parties.

On the day before the shooting, the Israeli parliament approved a draft bill that, if signed into law, would allow the execution of Palestinian detainees involved in anti-occupation operations.

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, based in the Gaza Strip, condemned the development as an attempt by Israel to legalize its systematic killing of Palestinians.
