Senior Iranian Lawmaker Rebukes Italy's Friendship with Anti-Iran Terrorists

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Senior Iranian Lawmaker Ebrahim Azizi censured the Italian parliament for hosting the ringleader of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO), an anti-Iran terrorist group.

In an interview with IRNA news agency, Azizi, who is the vice chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament, highlighted a recent incident involving the MKO terrorist group in Albania and the actions by the country’s police against its elements, which led to a decline in their standing within the Southeastern European country as well as the world.

"In such circumstances, the MKO terrorists are seeking alignment and exploitation of disillusioned individuals and political systems that hold a hostile stance towards the Islamic Republic," Azizi said.

He further outlined the MKO’s efforts, backed by individuals residing in European countries such as Italy and France, to regain influence. Azizi cautioned these nations, along with others supporting the terrorist group, that their actions will be remembered by the Iranian people and will undoubtedly trigger a robust response.

Azizi emphasized that Iran has been fully engaged in the fight against terrorist groups in recent years.

"The Italian Parliament undermines its potential for establishing relations with a powerful system through such shortsightedness," Azizi continued. He stressed that the terrorist organization lacks standing among the Iranian people and even within international systems.

Regarding the Italian Parliament's behavior, the Vice Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission noted that Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Italian Ambassador to Tehran. "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs properly conveyed the country's serious objection," he stated.

The Islamic Republic vows not to tolerate the repetition of such disgraceful conduct by certain European countries, he went on to say.
