Nine-Man Sepahan Beats Air Force Club: 2023-24 ACL
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Nine-man Sepahan football club of Iran held out to secure a valuable 1-0 win over Iraq’s Air Force Club at Azadi Stadium on Monday to boost its hopes of advancing from Group C of the AFC Champions League 2023-24.
The win helped Sepahan keep pace with leader Al Ittihad FC, while the Saudi Arabian side is two points ahead, with the two teams to meet in a decider on Matchday Six.
Sepahan needed just four minutes to open the scoring, with Farshad Ahmadzadeh finding the back of the net assisted by Ramin Rezaeian.
Sepahan defender Mohammad Hosseinnezhad received a direct red card after a challenge on Mustafa Saadoun in the 43rd minute.
Sepahan’s Hadi Mohammadi was also shown a red card in the 90th minute.
