Fight on Terrorism Requires Collective Action: Iran’s FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – It is imperative for all regional countries to join hands to eradicate terrorism, the Iranian foreign minister said after a terrorist attack in Iran’s southern city of Kerman killed over 80 people.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad held a telephone conversation on Thursday.

In the phone call, the Syrian foreign minister strongly condemned the Wednesday's terrorist attack in Kerman, expressed sympathy with the families of victims, and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

Mekdad also conveyed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's condolences to the president of Iran over the tragic incident.

For his part, the Iranian foreign minister thanked the Syrian authorities for their sympathy and condemnation of the terrorist incident, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

Amirabdollahian also emphasized the necessity for cooperation among the regional countries to combat and eradicate the ominous phenomenon of terrorism.

The two diplomats further talked about the recent terrorist acts of the Zionist regime in Syria and Lebanon, and discussed the latest developments in Palestine as well as the Israeli regime's aggression against Gaza.
