Iranian Envoy Resumes Mission in Pakistan
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s ambassador to Islamabad, Reza Amiri Moqadam, returned to his diplomatic mission on Friday after the two neighbors resolved a squabble over recent reciprocal attacks on the border areas.
The Iranian ambassador has resumed his mission in Islamabad with the message of “friendship and fraternity” between the two states.
After receiving a welcome from the Pakistani Foreign Ministry’s officials on Friday, Amiri Moqadam said, “The relations between Iran and Pakistan are age-old and historic. The two countries have always had close cooperation and convergence in the bilateral, regional and international areas.”
Commenting on Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian’s upcoming visit to Pakistan, the ambassador said the two neighbors are engaged in high-level interaction.
“The promotion of economic and political cooperation between Iran and Pakistan could strengthen border security as well,” he noted.
The foreign ministries of Iran and Pakistan issued a joint statement on January 22, signaling thaw in the recently strained relations between the two Muslim neighbors.
The Iranian foreign minister is scheduled to travel to Pakistan on January 29 at the invitation of caretaker Minister for Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Jalil Abbas Jilani.
