Inflated Lies of ‘Goebbels of Israel’ Peddling Nazi-Style Propaganda

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli army spokesman statements have been labeled as "propaganda lies" akin to the tactics employed by Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Germany’s propaganda minister, as he has made false claims to justify Israel’s conduct in the Gaza war and reject impacts of Iran’s retaliatory operation.

In recent months, as the Gaza war has turned into a quagmire for the Israeli regime, we have repeatedly witnessed claims made by Israeli officials, especially General Daniel Hagari, the spokesman of the Israeli army, to justify the occupying and brutal actions of the Israeli army or to deny the blows and damages inflicted upon it.

However, Iran's retaliatory operation against the Israeli regime on April 14, 2024, intensified the Israeli regime's need for secrecy and false justifications. Reminiscent of Joseph Goebbels, Hagari has told several remarkable lies to explain away Israel's strategic failure and the erosion of its deterrent force against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Goebbels claimed that in the propaganda industry, the bigger the lie, the more believable it would be. It seems that the Israeli army and especially Hagari have based their activities on this same technique.

It may not be an exaggeration to say that the claim of "99% interception of Iran's missiles and drones" in the very first hours of Operation True Promise was the biggest lie that Hagari has put forth during the nearly 200 days since the start of the Gaza war.

This claim can be easily verified by quantitatively examining the number of missiles and drones used by Iran in the retaliatory operation on April 14. According to Western media, the total number of Iranian missiles and drones in this operation was between 320 and 350. Accepting Hagari's claim would mean that only 3 Iranian missiles or drones hit the targets, but even international and some Israeli media have reported the impact of Iranian missiles in at least 6 locations in the occupied territories. These six locations include the Ramon base, the Nevatim base, the Arad region, the surrounding areas of West Jerusalem, Umm al-Fahm, and the occupied Golan Heights. Additionally, the number of impacts based on online videos is much higher than Hagari's claim - in just one of the videos, which is dedicated to the Nevatim base, 7 impacts are depicted.

The second notable lie by Hagari and the Israelis during the Al-Aqsa Storm operation and the Israeli army's invasion of Gaza, especially the medical and health centers in this strip, was the claim of the existence of the main Hamas command center under the Al-Shifa Hospital. The Israeli army's propaganda apparatus carried out a lot of efforts on this matter and even distributed a cartoon model by the Israeli army to suggest the existence of a command center under this hospital. These efforts were aimed at justifying the subsequent attack by the occupying army on this hospital, but after the end of the attack and the occupation of the hospital, the Israelis failed to prove the claim of the existence of the main command center under this hospital.

The third big and shocking lie of Hagari and the Israeli army during this period was the claim of the beheading of 40 infants by members of the Palestinian resistance groups on the day of the implementation of the Al-Aqsa Storm operation on October 7. Hagari showed blurred images in this regard, claiming that the mentioned infants had been beheaded, but for humanitarian reasons, the images of the children in question were obscured. This lie of Hagari and the Israeli army was also exposed through reverse image searches on search engines; the images claimed by Hagari were previously available on the internet, and the Israeli army tried to retouch and misuse them for their propaganda purposes against Hamas and other Palestinian resistance groups.

Censorship regarding the announcement of Israeli casualties and adopting a drip-feed confirmation of the killed and wounded has also been one of the other major lies in Hagari's collection of lies during this period. From the beginning of the war, in every confrontation, the news that the resistance groups provided about the killed and wounded Israeli soldiers was initially denied by Hagari and the Israeli army's information team, but in many cases, it has been observed that the number of killed increases daily and gets closer to the number announced by the Palestinian groups. The same occurred regarding the first phase of the Al-Aqsa Storm operation on October 7, 2023, in such a way that for several days, the Israelis were not willing to confirm the number of casualties on that day (more than 1,100 people).

Additionally, Hagari at one point reduced the number of those killed to 100 and claimed that these 100 people were Palestinian forces who had been mistakenly considered Israelis, while all the Palestinian forces who participated in the October 7 operation were wearing the special uniform of the resistance groups.

Another debacle in this regard was about the number of wounded Israelis. About 10 days ago, Hagari put the total number of wounded Zionists at 1,593, while the Haaretz newspaper, in a report, called Hagari's announced figure a lie and wrote, “From October 7, 2023, until now, 1,949 people have been hospitalized only at the Barzilai Hospital, as well as 137 people at the Assuta Hospital in Ashdod, 148 people at Ichilov, 181 at Rambam, 209 at Hadassah, 287 at Beilinson, 139 at Sheba, 1,000 at Soroka Hospital, and about 500 at Sheba Hospital,” and this list is just the tip of the iceberg of the Israeli military casualties.

In general, it seems that the Zionist regime, by drawing on the experiences of the great world wars and the impact of propaganda on public opinion, is trying to push the crimes of the military forces of this regime in the Gaza Strip into the background by making false and fictitious claims, while presenting a formidable and magnificent image of the Israeli army and the military structure of this regime to the world, something that can be easily verified by observing the scale of the damage inflicted on the structure of the Israeli regime's army on the day of the Al-Aqsa Storm operation, as well as the published images from the occupied territories of the impact of Iranian missiles and drones on various targets during the True Promise operation.
