Iran’s Export of Food, Agricultural Products Up 20% in One Year

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Teh spokesman for Iran’s House of Industry, Mine and Trade said the export of food and agricultural products from the country in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 19, 2024) registered a 20 percent growth in value compared to a year earlier.

Rouhollah Latifi said $6.3 billion of animal, fishery, agricultural and food products were exported from the country between March 21, 2023, and March 19, 2024, showing a 20.5 percent hike compared to the previous year.

More than 8.803 million tons of animal, fishery, agricultural, greenhouse, dairy and food products, valued at over $6 billion, were exported from the country, indicating a 12.2 and 20.5 percent growth in weight and value respectively compared to a year before, he added.

The spokesman went on to say that 136.4 million tons of non-oil goods, valued at more than $49 billion, were exported from the country last year, IRNA reported.

About 87 and 80 percent of these products in terms of weight and value respectively were exported to the 15 neighboring countries, he noted.

Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Pakistan and Afghanistan were Iran’s first to fifth export target markets in this period in terms of export of food and agricultural products, Latifi added.
