283 Bodies Recovered As New Mass Graves Emerge in Gaza’s Nasser Hospital
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The depth of despair in Gaza’s Khan Younis deepens as the uncovering of 283 bodies from mass graves within Nasser Hospital's premises underscores the relentless brutality of the Israeli onslaught, casting a shadow of grief over the beleaguered city.
The Gaza civil defense agency reported a somber tally of 283 bodies retrieved thus far from mass graves unearthed subsequent to the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis.
Medical professionals and international observers, upon visiting the hospital, have likened its surroundings to a "graveyard" in the aftermath of Israeli incursions into the facility.
Adding to the distressing revelation, three additional mass graves have been uncovered on the hospital grounds, supplementing the one disclosed the previous day. From these graves, the civil defense department has recovered 73 bodies of individuals, including women, children, and young men, who had been missing since the initial incursion by the Israeli military two months prior.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has decried the "horrific massacres" perpetrated by the Israeli regime in response to the disclosure of mass graves within the courtyard of Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, situated in the southern Gaza Strip.
In a released statement, the organization emphasized the need for an investigation into "a war crime, a crime against humanity, and organized state terrorism," urging the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice to “assume their responsibilities in this regard”.
Meanwhile, Gaza's civil defense teams persist in the grim task of exhuming human remains from the mass grave at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, while grieving relatives gather bodies shrouded in white.
One resident, Umm Mohammed al-Harazeen, expressed her desperate search for news of her missing husband, who disappeared during the Israeli forces' entry into Khan Younis months earlier.
The US Campaign for Palestinian Rights took to social media to denounce the killings, branding the mass graves as glaring evidence of genocide and egregious war crimes. The group underscored the juxtaposition of this news with the US House of Representatives' approval of a $14 billion military aid bill, coinciding with Israeli threats of a full-scale ground invasion targeting Palestinians in Rafah.
The toll of Palestinians killed in Gaza during the ongoing Israeli military onslaught has risen to 34,151, according to the Health Ministry, with an additional 77,084 wounded. Yet, the actual death toll is likely higher, as thousands are feared buried beneath the rubble of buildings demolished in Israeli airstrikes.
Among the casualties are over 14,500 children and 9,500 women, as reported by Gaza's media office.
