Yemeni Forces Repel Massive Attacks by Saudi Mercenaries in Taiz

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The forces of the Yemeni army and Popular Committees managed to repulse massive attacks by Saudi-backed mercenaries in Yemen’s southwestern province of Taiz, killing and injuring a number of the militants.

A number of mercenaries of the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh, were killed in a counterattack mounted by the Yemeni troops in al-Wakil hill in Taiz, according to the Arabic-language Al Mayadeen TV.

Mohammed Abdullah Hatam al-Mekhlafi, one of the leaders of the mercenaries, was among those killed in the operation, according to the report.

The Yemeni forces also launched artillery attacks against the positions of the Saudi-backed militants in Sirwah District in the west-central Marib province.

The attacks came in retaliation for the continued massacre of civilians and destruction of Yemen’s infrastructure by the Saudi-led coalition.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for more than two years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to Hadi.

Over 12,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
